One month and counting...!

For me, travel is all about the people.  I'm excited to visit Florence and Sienna, I've been overwhelmed reading all about their rich history and the amazing art, it's all thrilling.  But truly, for me, the most fun has been my correspondence with Rosella, our host in Florence.  When charged with being responsible for finding accommodations in Florence, I gladly dove into the project.  I pretty quickly settled on the Uffizi apartment, as it was advertised.  Located almost next door to the Uffizi museum, literally steps from the famous duomo, quiet, cozy and charming, with an ancient olive tree in the street outside; it seemed the perfect place.  When I contacted Rosella, the proprietress, I was sure!  What a delightful and charming woman....and all we've done is email back and forth.  A teacher as well, we have something in common.  Her English is marvelous, my Italian un po, for sure!  Still, she is encouraging of my weak efforts and eager to share her vast knowledge of the beautiful city she calls home.  Next assignment (besides my ongoing struggles with learning Italian!) is to learn more of Sienna, the home of the famous Palio horse races!  Molto Bene!
